Dear Youth Marshals of the East,
I’ve been the Youth Combat DEM for about three and a half years, and the time has come to find a successor to take over some time later this year.
Serving in this position has been very rewarding, but there are many other things clamoring for my attention, and I hope to find someone new who is able to give the youth combat program the focused time and energy it deserves in the coming years.
Of course, I’ll continue to be part of the marshallate, and look forward to providing support as the next DEM comes up to speed — plus we have a great leadership team and regional deputies to help ensure their success.
This role should be filled by someone who has prior experience as a youth combat marshal, to ensure they’re already familiar with this unique part of our Society.
Responsibilities of this office include:
- Work with regional deputies to keep local marshals engaged, encourage the advancement of trainees, and keep an ear out for possible problems.
- Keep track of youth combat events around the kingdom and try to facilitate the scheduling of marshals to cover them.
- Remind local marshals to file their quarterly reports, than summarize the results into a short kingdom-level report to Society four times per year.
- Lead the process of updating the kingdom’s youth-combat rule book and instructional materials to reflect local feedback and Society-level changes, which happens about twice per decade.
- Speak for the interests of the youth combat community when our voice is needed at kingdom curia.
